Chipotle Mexican Grill will join the dining options in Fort Dodge later this year.
Construction of the new restaurant has started near the intersection of Second Avenue South and 29th Street in Corridor Plaza.
"We are currently scheduled to open a new location in Fort Dodge later this year," Mohit Patel, a spokesperson for Chipotle Mexican Grill, said in a written statement. "We are always looking for communities where we can serve classically-cooked real food and establish local partnerships and we believe Fort Dodge will be a great fit."
An opening date for the restaurant has not been announced.
Patel said about 30 people will be employed there, adding that the benefits will include the opportunity to earn bonuses equal to an extra month's worth of pay, a debt-free college plan and access to mental health care.
Construction is in the very early stages, Crews from Rasch Construction, of Fort Dodge, are doing earthmoving and installing a sewer line.
Montage Builders LLC, of Omaha, Nebraska, is the general contractor.
The Chipotle Mexican Grill menu includes burritos, burrito bowls, quesadillas, and salads.
The chain has 16 restaurants in Iowa currently. The closest one to Fort Dodge is in Ames.
The restaurant will join the Pavilion Sports Complex, Dairy Queen, Dunham's Sports. Shoe Sensation, Maurice's, Chick-fil-A, Teriyaki Madness, Clean Laundry, T-Mobile, Tidal Wave Auto Spa, ULTA, Auto Zone. and Unity Point Clinic Express in Corridor Plaza.
