Plush pet adoption event supports humane society

Kids can adopt stuffed animals

Area children will soon have an opportunity to adopt a pet that doesn’t bark, meow or make a mess on the floor.

And when they adopt that pet, they will be supporting the pets that do bark or meow and can make a mess.

These special pets the kids can adopt on Saturday are stuffed animals. The adoption fees will support the dogs and cats at the Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa.

The event is the Puppy Love and Kitten Cuddles Plush Adoption Day.

It will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Almost Home shelter, 725 S. 32nd St.

The adoption fee is $20.

“Kids can adopt their own stuffed puppy or kitten, make a collar, decorate a pet carrier for it and receive an adoption certificate,” said Ashley Tuttle, executive director of Almost Home.

“We will provide snacks as well,” she added. “Britt’s Spaw is hosting the event here at the shelter with all proceeds coming back to us.”
