Fundraising for surgery center tops $3M
Campaign exceeds goal
UnityPoint Health — Trinity Foundation has announced it has exceeded its Surgical Excellence, The Future Looks Bright capital campaign goal of $3 million.
Trinity Foundation committed $10 million toward the total surgical renovation and expansion project cost of $39.8 million, investing $7 million from unrestricted funds and raising $3,147,684 through the campaign.
“We are sincerely grateful to our generous donors for their unwavering support of our mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to our community,” said Alyssa Stanek, executive director of Trinity Foundation. “Their generosity is not only appreciated — it is truly making a difference.”
The 36,314-square-foot renovation and expansion is designed to enhance patient satisfaction and improve team member efficiency by bringing inpatient surgery, outpatient surgery and sterile processing together in one convenient location. The upgraded facility will include five operating room suites, two endoscopy suites and 24 pre- and post-operative rooms.
Construction progress continues on the addition, with exterior wall framing, sheeting and fireproofing nearly complete. In the renovation area (the existing same-day surgery space) mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are being installed in preparation for drywall installation.
“I’m beyond grateful for the support we have seen from our team, donors and community,” said Leah Glasgo, president of UnityPoint Health — Fort Dodge. “The renovation and expansion allows UnityPoint Health to continue providing skilled, specialized surgical services in our community. Surgical technology has advanced significantly in the 44 years since the current main operating suites were opened. This renovation enables us to accommodate the latest technology, recruit new surgeons and ensure we continue providing the highest quality care to our patients and community. In fact, we’ve recruited two surgeons — a general surgeon and an orthopedic surgeon — since announcing the project.”
Trinity Foundation called on Casey and Deb Johnson to serve as co-chairs of the capital campaign and to join the campaign steering committee, which is made up of UnityPoint Health — Fort Dodge leadership, team members and community members.
The campaign’s success was also made possible through the dedication and advocacy of the campaign steering committee, whose members generously gave their time, expertise and leadership to support the project.
“We are so thankful for the Johnsons’ vision and leadership, both on this project and within the community.” said Stanek. “They were instrumental in leading the campaign and helping us raise the funds to make this project a reality. From Deb’s involvement on the UnityPoint Health board, to Deb and Casey meeting with potential donors and serving on our steering committee, they’ve been involved and supportive every step of the way.”
The surgical renovation and expansion project is anticipated to be completed in spring 2027.
