Williams starts bid for Iowa House seat

He wants to represent district that includes Fort Dodge

Kris Williams

Kris Williams has launched his campaign for the Democratic nomination in the Iowa House of Representatives district centered on Fort Dodge.

“I’m not a politician,” he said in announcing his candidacy. “I’m a dad, a student and like so many Iowans, someone who has worked hard for everything I have. But no matter how hard we work too many of us still can’t get ahead because the system isn’t just broken — it’s rigged.”

Williams is calling for:

• Raising the minimum wage

• Expanding public transportation

• Halting the diversion of public money to private schools.

• Implementing common-sense protection for drinking water

Williams is seeking to represent House District 8, which includes Fort Dodge and eastern Webster County. No other Democrats have announced their candidacy in that district so far.

The incumbent in that district is state Rep. Ann Meyer, R-Fort Dodge.

Williams has worked in agriculture, manufacturing and most recently, retail. He is now campaigning full time.

He is an Iowa native who earned a bachelor’s degree from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Starting at $4.94/week.
