LifeServe offers blood donor incentives

Platelets, type O negative blood wanted

LifeServe Blood Center, which has a facility in Fort Dodge, has launched two donor reward initiatives for 2026 to help build and maintain a strong supply of two vital blood products.

LifeServe is bringing back its Loyal Platelet Donor Club to reward this special group of donors. Platelets are tiny life-saving components in blood that are essential for clotting and can also help with tissue regeneration, support immune responses and influence blood flow.

Platelet donations use a special machine to collect platelets before returning all other blood components to the donor.

Just one donation can impact multiple people, and because platelets have a shelf life of less than a week, hospitals and patients are in constant need.

Platelet donors will be able to earn special awards, including exclusive Loyal Platelet Donor Club merchandise and gift cards throughout the year.

LifeServe is also introducing a new program, the Universal Donor Society, which rewards people with the O negative blood type. O negative blood can be used to treat patients of any blood type, including trauma situations in which a patients’s blood type is not yet known.

The high demand for O negative blood often leads to local shortages at community hospitals, which is why LifeServe is offering special perks to O negative donors through the Universal Donor Society. Similar to the Loyal Platelet Donor Club, O negative donors will be able to earn gift cards and exclusive merchandise.

To set up a donation appointment got to lifeservebloodcenter.org or call 800-287-4903.

Starting at $4.94/week.
