Fort Dodge firefighters were on scene when a garage fire was reported at 825 Ave. C just before 5 p.m. Friday. While there was heavy smoke coming from the garage, it was not on fire. Fire Department Capt. Steve Teske said the man who owns the garage put a piece of wood that had a section of a tire stuck to it into the woodburner in the garage. When the rubber started burning, thick smoke came out of the garage, prompting someone to report it was on fire.
