FD mayor, council inauguration is today

New Fort Dodge Mayor Dave Flattery, plus the newly elected and reelected City Council members, will be sworn into office during a ceremony this morning.

It will begin at 11 a.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.

The newly elected council members are Scott Davis (at-large), Terry Moehnke (at-large) and Todd McCubbin (Ward 3).

Moehnke represented Ward 1 for 10 years and is returning to the council after being out of office for two years.

The council members who were reelected are Jen Crimmins (Ward 1), Cameron Nelson (Ward 2) and Kim Alstott (Ward 4).

There will be a City Council meeting immediately following the inauguration ceremony.

During that meeting a mayor pro tem will be elected to preside over council meetings and perform other duties of the mayor whenever Flattery is absent.

The dean of the council will be selected as well. Traditionally, the dean is the senior member of the council who is not the mayor pro tem. The dean presides over council meetings when both the mayor and mayor pro tem are absent.

Starting at $4.94/week.
