Deputies search for suspect in shots fired incident
DAYTON — The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents in Dayton to check their home security cameras following a report of gunfire Sunday evening.
According to Webster County Chief Deputy Derek Christie, dispatch received a call at approximately 8 p.m. Sunday of gunfire in the 100 block of Fourth Street Southwest in Dayton.
Upon arrival, deputies found 10 shell casings along with several bullet holes in an overhead garage door. Witness statements and video evidence were obtained from local residents about a suspect driving a gold minivan. A vehicle matching that description was later located in Lehigh and towed pending a search warrant.
According to Christie, Webster County detectives interviewed several individuals and are currently tracking down additional leads.
“We are asking residents of Dayton and Lehigh with home security cameras to check footage between 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a gold minivan,” said Christie.
Christie noted that this is an isolated incident and investigators do not believe there are any additional risks to the public.
