Woman arrested for threatening to stab officers

A Fort Dodge woman was arrested after threatening to stab and kill law enforcement officers during a Saturday night incident, according to court records.

Those records show that Estrella A. Mendez, 25, of 623 N. 21st St., was arrested by Fort Dodge police and charged with two counts of first-degree harassment and one count of interference with official acts.

According to the criminal complaints filed against her, police responded to her home at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday because a domestic fight had been reported there. She refused to open a door for the officers, then threatened to stab a Fort Dodge police officer and a Webster County deputy sheriff if they entered the home, the criminal complaints state. She was immediately taken into custody and resisted the officers.

As she was being transported to the Webster County Jail, she threatened to kill every officer involved in her arrest, according to the criminal complaints.

Mendez made her initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday. She waived her right to a preliminary hearing on the first-degree harassment charges. Court action on the lesser offense of interference with official acts was postponed for 180 days.

Mendez was released from jail after posting a $4,000 cash or surety bond.

Starting at $4.94/week.
