Pot found downtown caused concern
People were asked to stay away from a section of downtown Fort Dodge for a few hours Tuesday morning after a pot was found sitting along curb.
Police took precautions just in case the object they described as an “Instant Pot type appliance’ contained an explosive or was otherwise dangerous.
The owner of the pot was later found and it was determined that it was not dangerous.
The pot was spotted at 6:52 a.m. on the south curb in the 800 block of First Avenue North.
At around 10 a.m. the owner of the pot was identified and the area was deemed to be safe.
The Fort Dodge Fire Department, Public Works Department, Webster County sheriff’s deputies, the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office and the state Division of Narcotics Enforcement assisted with the incident.
