MOORLAND — Three people were injured, including a person who was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital, in a crash Friday evening at a rural Webster County intersection.
The crash happened at about 5 p.m. at Webster County Road D36 and Baxter Avenue. It involved a van, a semitrailer and a pickup.
Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to remove the driver’s side door of the van to free its driver.
A Mercy One helicopter landed on Webster County Road D36 west of the crash site to pick up one of the injured people.
Sgt. Neil Morenz, of the Iowa State Patrol said the driver and a passenger in the van and the driver of the pickup were injured. He said the driver of the semi was not hurt.

One occupant of the van was airlifted to Des Moines from the scene. The other injured people were taken by ambulance to UnityPoint Health –Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Morenz said the van was northbound on Baxter Avenue, stopped at the intersection and then proceeded into the path of the semi, which was eastbound on Webster County Road D36. He said the semi hit the van and shoved it into the pickup truck, which was stopped in the westbound lane of Webster County Road D36, waiting to turn.
Webster County Road D36 was closed from Moorland to a point west of the intersection.
The Moorland Fire Department, ambulances from the Fort Dodge Fire Department and Webster County sheriff’s deputies also responded to the crash.
The incident remained under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol Friday night.
