The Fort Dodge City Council on Monday approved a $40,000 settlement to end a lawsuit.

There was no discussion of the matter during the council meeting and no other details have been revealed.

The motion the council approved describes the settlement as “recommended by and paid by the city’s insurance carrier solely to avoid the costs, expenses and attorney fees of ongoing litigation and not because there was any wrongdoing on the part of the city, any officer or anyone else with the city.”

Councilman Quennel McCaleb abstained from the otherwise unanimous vote.
