Webster supervisors OK new squad car

Ulrich thanks auditor’s office for work on election

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office will get a new squad car after a vehicle was damaged in a car-deer accident earlier this month.

The Webster County supervisors approved the purchase of a 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Patrol Explorer from Stivers Ford in Waukee for $46,900.

“We were very fortunate that they were able to find a police package at 2025 state bid pricing,” said Supervisor Bob Thode. “In fact, it was the last police package in the State of Iowa. We were able to transfer the equipment over very easily instead of having to buy all new for the 2026 models.”

The supervisors tabled acceptance of bids for snow removal at the Yell Building, 723 First Ave. S., until more information could be gathered from Trey Lawrence LLC and Johnson Brothers, the two companies that formally placed bids.

Iowa Central Community College President Jesse Ulrich also addressed the supervisors, thanking Webster County Auditor Shaunna Abrams and her staff for their work on early elections voting sites and opportunities.

“We had a satellite campus yesterday for the upcoming city-county-school election,” said Ulrich. “We’re anticipating a good turnout, so hopefully yesterday’s satellite election process takes a little bit of pressure off of the other precincts on the day, but Shaunna’s team was proficient, professional, and polite and a well-oiled machine. I just wanted to publicly thank them for all of their work.”

On Nov. 4, voters in a nine-county region, including Webster County, will have the opportunity to vote on continuing Iowa Central’s current general obligation bond. Fort Dodge voters will also vote on City Council and school board members, plus a bond issue extension for the Fort Dodge Community School District.

Starting at $4.94/week.
