Traffic stop leads to marijuana charges
A Fort Dodge man was arrested Sunday night after police found him in possession of a little more than four pounds of suspected marijuana.
According to court records, David E. Peck, 34, of 423 N. 14th St., was arrested by Fort Dodge police and charged with:
• Controlled substance violation.
• Failure to affix drug stamp.
• Driving while license suspended.
• Turning at intersection violation.
According to the criminal complaints filed against him, officers saw Peck make a bad turn in the 400 block of South 15th Street. They stopped his 2018 Toyota Tundra.
In the truck, they found 4.5 pounds of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana packaged in vacuum sealed bags, according to the criminal complaints. They also found a scale apparently used to weigh the substance.
Officers wrote in the criminal complaints that Peck “admitted to selling this product as he stated he runs a marijuana growing operation in another state.”
Peck made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday morning. Magistrate Sarah J. Livingston set a Nov. 7 preliminary hearing on the drug-related charges. Court action on the traffic charges was postponed 180 days.
Peck posted a $10,000 surety bond and was released from the Webster County Jail.
