FD council to address real estate, road issues

The Fort Dodge City Council will act on potentially selling some land and prepare for more road work on Third Avenue Northwest when it meets tonight.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave S.

The council will hold a public hearing and consider a resolution regarding selling some real estate. The property is on the southeast side of the intersection of South 15th Street and Fifth Avenue South. The city government bought that land about a decade ago and demolished the buildings.

The hearing and resolution on tonight’s agenda are necessary steps to enable the council to accept proposals for the property from developers.

Also tonight, the council will consider hiring Snyder and Associates, which has an office in Fort Dodge, to prepare the final plans for rebuilding Third Avenue Northwest between Seventh and 10th streets northwest. The firm would be paid $327,100.

In addition to the road, the project would include a new storm sewer, new water main, adjustments to the sanitary sewer, a trail alongside the road and street lights.

The project is scheduled to start in May 2026 and be done by the end of next year.

Starting at $4.94/week.
