WRIGHT COUNTY — A Huxley woman died and a Goldfield man was injured after their UTV fell from a river bank into the Boone River early Saturday.

McKenna Woodbeck, 20, of Huxley, died when she was trapped under the vehicle, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Levi Rasmussen, 21, of Goldfield, was hurt.

Both were riding in a John Deere Gator near the Boone River Saturday along Iowa Highway 3 in Wright County when they misjudged how close they were to the river, the State Patrol said. The Gator made a significant drop from the river bank into the river.

Woodbeck and Rasmussen were both thrown from the vehicle.

But Woodbeck was trapped underneath the Gator. Rasmussen, who was driving the UTV, was injured.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Wright County Sheriff’s Department, Eagle Grove Police Department, Eagle Grove Ambulance, and Goldfield Fire Department.
