A man was stabbed during a fight outside a Fort Dodge convenience store Sunday morning, according to police,
The man accused of the stabbing was quickly arrested, police said.
At 9:08 a.m. Sunday 911 dispatchers received a report of an altercation at Star Convenience Store, 1601 Fifth Ave. S.
Officers found Christopher J. Clark, 50, of Fort Dodge, suffering from a stab wound to the right shoulder and a laceration to the right hand, according to police reports and court documents.
The man who reportedly stabbed him was not at the scene.
The victim was treated at the scene by Fort Dodge Fire Department paramedics and transported by ambulance to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. Police reported that he has been released from the hospital.
As police investigated the situation, Johnathan D. Clark, 41, of 312 N. Seventh St., was identified as a suspect. A Webster County sheriff’s deputy found him and arrested him.
In criminal complaints filed against him, police wrote that he stabbed Christopher Clark, fled the scene and discarded the weapon in a wooded area.
Johnanthan Clark was charged with willful injury causing serious injury and going armed with intent.
He made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday morning. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing meaning the case against him will proceed to arraignment and trial. A court order was issued prohibiting him from having any contact with the man he is accused of stabbing.
Johnathan Clark posted a $12,000 cash or surety bond and was released from the Webster County Jail.
