Man arrested in FD homicide case

Police still trying to contact victim’s family

A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting death in Fort Dodge early Tuesday morning, police reported.

Fort Dodge police reported that Rolman Humberto Recinos Gonzales, 38, of 524 N. 28th St., was arrested and charged with first degree murder; trafficking in stolen weapons, first offense; and person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons. He is being held in the Webster County Jail.

The homicide was reported at 1:04 a.m. Tuesday when 911 dispatchers received a call about a gun shot in the 500 block of North 28th Street. Police responding to the area found a man dead from a single gunshot wound outside an apartment building.

The deceased man’s name has not been released yet because authorities are still trying to reach his family.

Recinos Gonzales quickly emerged as a person of interest in the investigation. According to criminal complaints filed against him, police searched his apartment.

During that search officers found a Glock 22 that was reported stolen in Chickasaw County. They also found an AR-15 rifle.

According to the criminal complaints, Recinos Gonzales was charged with person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons because he is not a citizen of the United States and thus it is a violation of federal law for him to have firearms.

Recinos Gonzales made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Wednesday. Magistrate William H. Habhab set bond at $1 million cash only for the first degree murder charge plus $11,000 cash only on the weapons charges.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 12.

Starting at $4.94/week.
