Homicide investigation continues
Man found with gunshot wound
Fort Dodge police say one person is dead following a shooting early Tuesday morning.
According to Fort Dodge Police Chief Dennis Quinn, a deceased man suffering from a gunshot wound was found in the area of 524 N. 28th St. at approximately 1:04 a.m. Tuesday. Police had been dispatched to that area in response to a report of a gun shot.
Officers and investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation canvassed the neighborhood, conducted interviews, and gathered evidence. Officials are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department or Webster County Crime Stoppers.
According to Quinn, the name of the man is not being released until all family members have been notified.
The investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Webster County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Webster County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Fort Dodge Fire Department.
