Gunman captured in Eagle Grove after standoff
Standoff lasts more than six hours
EAGLE GROVE — Multiple law enforcement agencies surrounded a gunman in downtown Eagle Grove Wednesday evening, eventually taking him into custody.
According to the Eagle Grove Police Department, the suspect was allegedly harassing another person and was armed with a handgun while in downtown Eagle Grove near Ag Processing, Inc.
Officers from the Eagle Grove Police Department, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol surrounded the gunman on Second Street Northeast near North Lucas Street and the railroad tracks.
Multiple armored vehicles and squad cars, as well as a negotiator, were on scene for more than six hours.
The suspect, though still unnamed by police, was eventually taken into custody.
The incident remains under investigation.
