Animal neglect probe leads to charges
PALMER — Four people face animal neglect charges after 14 dogs were removed from a property in Palmer last month.
The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office reported that animal neglect charges have been filed against these individuals:
• Bernadette Tevalan-Hernandez, 61, six counts.
• Grace Gonzalez, 42, three counts.
• Armando Sosa, 51, one count.
• Andrea Gonzalez, 19, one count.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that the staff of the Moffitt Animal Shelter received an anonymous tip about possible animal abuse at 117 Main St. in Palmer.
On Aug. 14, deputies went to that address along with personnel from the shelter and the Animal Rescue League. There, they removed 10 dogs from the residence and four dogs from a camper parked near the residence, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
