A veteran Fort Dodge city employee has been promoted to a new role in which she will lead efforts related to business and housing development.

Paige Wheeler was approved by the City Council Monday to serve as development services director.

“I’m excited,” she said Monday after the council meeting. “Wherever you look around Fort Dodge, it’s like one big explosion of growth.”

She joined the city staff about 10 years ago in the Inspections Division and has held multiple roles since. Most recently, she was community development manager.

Her new role will include supporting and retaining existing businesses, assisting new businesses, and housing development. Planning, zoning and grants will also be her responsibility.
