Supervisors hold special meetings

County to lease office space to Iowa Workforce

The Webster County Board of Supervisors held a pair of special meetings Friday.

In the first meeting, the Supervisors approved a travel request from Veterans Affairs Director Dan Lewandowski to attend a National Association of County Veterans Service Officers conference in Louisville, Kentucky.

The supervisors also approved a special retail alcohol license for the Webster County Agricultural Association for the New Coop Appreciation event Saturday with John Michael Montgomery and Collin Raye.

Later in the day, the supervisors held a second special meeting and approved a lease between the Webster County Board of Supervisors and the Iowa Department of Administrative Services for Iowa Workforce Development.

The lease agreement will provide a lease to IWD for approximately 4,479 square feet of office space in the Webster County Social Services Building, 330 First Ave. N. The office space will be on both the ground and first floors. For the rental of the office space, IWD has agreed to pay Webster County $22,800 per year, in the amount of $1,900 monthly. The agreed upon lease began Friday and ends Aug. 31, 2030.

Iowa Works vacated its former office on the Iowa Central Community College campus at the end of July due to what an agency spokesman described as an issue with the lease.

Starting at $4.94/week.
