POCAHONTAS — One person was killed in a Thursday afternoon crash on Iowa Highway 4 south of Pocahontas.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, so the names of the people involved have not been released.

The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash happened at 12:02 p.m. Deputies reported that one person was declared dead at the scene. They reported that a second person received minor injuries. That individual was treated at the scene by paramedics, but was not taken to a hospital.

Pocahontas police, paramedics from Pocahontas Community Hospital, Palmer Emergency Medical Service and firefighters from Palmer and Pocahontas also responded.
