One man was seriously injured when he was thrown from this motorcycle during a crash late Thursday afternoon on Nelson Avenue in Webster County. The crash happened at 4:50 p.m. on Nelson Avenue between 255th Street and Woodman Hollow Road near the top of Kalo Hill. Deputy Sheriff Tyler Holbrook said the motorcycle was southbound on Nelson Avenue and tried to pass a line of slower moving vehicles. While trying to pass, the motorcycle hit the side of a southbound pickup, he said. The motorcycle went off the east side of the road and its driver was thrown. He apparently hit a sign, while the motorcycle ended up by some nearby trees. The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to the Otho fire station, where he was picked up by a Life Flight helicopter. The driver of the pickup was unhurt. Firefighters from Otho, along with an ambulance from the Fort Dodge Fire Department, responded.
