Moehnke, Nelson get on council ballot
They file nominating petitions
Two more candidates for the Fort Dodge City Council have filed their nominating petitions to get on the ballot.
They are Councilman Cameron Nelson and former Councilman Terry Moehnke. Both had previously announced their candidacies.
Nelson is seeking his third term representing Ward 2, which is essentially the south side of the city.
Council members elected to represent wards serve two year terms.
Moehnke represented Ward 1 for 10 years before stepping down when his last term ended at the end of 2023. He is now seeking one of the two at-large council seats to be filled in this year’s election.
At-large council members serve four year terms.
Other candidates for city office so far include Councilman Dave Flattery, who is running for mayor and council hopefuls Michael Haubrich (at-large), Councilwoman Jen Crimmins (Ward 1), Todd McCubbin (Ward 3), Jeanette Moss (Ward 3) and Councilman Kim Alstott (Ward 4).
