Fort Dodge Fire Department Lt. Tom Ubben, left, accepts the Iowa Haz Mat Technician of the Year Award from Brad Ransford, vice president of the Iowa Haz Mat Task Force, Thursday morning. Ubben was picked for the award by members of hazardous materials response teams across the state. Ubben joined the Fire Department in 2011 and has been part of its Region V Hazardous Materials Response Team since 2012. He was the team’s coordinator from 2014 to 2017.
