Fire at Amigos in FD

Multiple crews battle blaze

Multiple fire crews battled an early morning fire at Amigos, 280 South 1st Street in Fort Dodge.

According to the Fort Dodge Fire Department, a report of smoke was received at 4:03 a.m.. Upon arrival, FDFD saw smoke coming from the attic and back of the building. The department quickly initiated fire attack, search, and ventilation procedures.

According to a statement from Fire Chief Matt Price, the fire was significantly involved in the attic and on the south side of the structure. Multiple handlines were required to bring the fire under control, and an extensive overhaul of the fire area was conducted.

A second alarm brought in five off-duty firefighters to staff the station and additional resources, including Ladder 1, were brought to the scene.

A total of 18 Fort Dodge Fire Department personnel were on-site for approximately three hours. One firefighter sustained a non-life-threatening injury.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

Fort Dodge Fire Department was assisted by the Fort Dodge Police Department and Mid-American Energy.
