A nearly 40 mile section of highways 175 and 169 will be closed next month for repaving.

Croell, Inc., of New Hampton, has been hired by the Iowa Department of Transportation to repave Iowa Highway 175 from the Iowa Highway 17 intersection near Stanhope to the U.S. Highway 169 intersection near Harcourt.

There is a small gap in construction through Harcourt on the east-west stretch with construction work then heading northbound on U.S. Highway 169, ending at the four-lane section near Otho.

“Traffic will be allowed to cross U.S. 169,” said Webster County Engineer Jamie Johll. “However, when the contractor paves through intersections there will be a few days that crossing traffic will not be able to cross. Once the concrete has reached the required strength to support traffic loads crossing will be allowed again. During those times, a different intersection will need to be used to cross.”

According to Johll, the project is scheduled to begin on Sept. 15. The contractor has 50 calendar days allowed for the road closure.

The anticipated end of the road closure would be Nov. 4, if the contractor needs to use all 50 calendar days for the repaving project.

Starting at $4.94/week.
