DAYTON — Drivers traveling on Iowa Highway 175 between Dayton and Stratford will have to find an alternate route beginning Monday.

The Iowa highway between Webster County Road P70 (Taylor Ave) to Water Street in Hamilton County will be closed for resurfacing work on the bridge over the Des Moines River.

The Iowa DOT project is anticipated to take less than one week, weather permitting, according to Jenny Hoskins with the Iowa Department of Transportation’s construction office.

There will not be a posted detour route for the road closure.

“The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones,” said Hoskins in a press release. “As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.”
