Colburn promoted

U.S. Navy Cmdr. Christian Colburn, right, a Sac City native and graduate of Iowa State University, recites the oath of office while being promoted to the rank of commander. Rear Adm. Wilson Marks administers the oath. The ceremony took place July 1 at Naval Air Station North Island in California. Colburn, a member of the Navy’s Judge Advocate General Corps, recently completed an assignment as legal adviser to the commander of Carrier Strike Group 9. He received the Meritorious Service Medal for his work in that role. Marks said that Colburn “provided exceptional experience and gave thoughtful, honest and timely advice.”
