ROCKWELL CITY — Marvin Blair, of Lake City, is the grand marshal of the 2025 Calhoun County Expo which runs through Sunday.

For more than 35 years, Blair has been a steadfast supporter of Calhoun County 4-H. Whether sitting in the shade by the livestock barns with his signature tea jug or helping kids and animals prepare for the show ring, he is always ready to lend a hand.

His commitment extends beyond the 4-H program. He has served multiple terms on the Calhoun County Extension Council, always advocating for youth. As a liaison between the extension office and the fair board, he has helped strengthen the partnership between the two organizations.

His connection to 4-H began with his father.

When his dad, Merrold Blair, joined the Jackson Pioneers 4-H Club, he had no idea how deeply 4-H would shape his life–and the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Merrold Blair later went on to lead the Jackson Pioneers, and his son Marvin (along with Jeff, Randy and Dan) followed in his footsteps. As a 4-H member, Marvin Blair was actively involved in showing sheep and livestock judging.

Years later, when his children — Lyndsy, Cara, and Derek — joined the same 4-H club, he and his wife, Barb, stepped up once again, this time as dedicated volunteer leaders.

Starting at $4.94/week.
