‘Uncharted territory’

Downtown Country Jam nearly sold out

For the first time, Downtown Country Jam is expected to sell out.

“It’s incredibly exciting,” said Jim Reed, president of Shellabration Inc., which organizes the concert. “This will be the first time since initiating this event in 2017 that we’ve sold out.”

According to Reed, less than 800 tickets were still available Sunday evening, and with the announcement, those remaining are anticipated to sell out quickly.

“Our team puts in a lot of blood, sweat and tears, and it’s rewarding when you know you’ve made a selection that resonates with the public,” said Reed. “The fact that we’ve never sold out Downtown Country Jam before, we’re in uncharted territory. Shellabration has sold out three times before, but we’ve not sold out Downtown Country Jam. It’s clear that there’s a thirst for country music. Some of the artists we’re looking at in the future include Travis Tritt, Jake Owen, Brothers Osborne among others.”

This year’s Downtown Country Jam on Aug. 9 will feature country superstar Trace Adkins along with special guests The Boys & Jared Benson.

The annual event is held in historic downtown Fort Dodge, but if Downtown Country Jam continues to be this successful, Reed says they may have to consider moving the venue.

“If it does sell out, there is a substantial chance that we will then, because of the limitations of the downtown venue as cool as it is, we may go back to Harlan Rogers as we did with our classic rock show and do future Downtown Country Jams out there,” said Reed.

He was referring to Harlan and Hazel Rogers Sports Complex on the city’s north side.

Remaining tickets are $40 and available online at TicketWeb.com or locally at Availa Bank, Greenstate Credit Union, First Interstate Bank, Hy-Vee, Northwest Bank and People’s Credit Union.

Reed said that he will inform the public via the Shellabration Facebook page as well as local media as soon as tickets do sell out.

Starting at $2.99/week.
