School moves to get on referendum ballot

A formal resolution turning petitions in to the Webster County Auditor to get on the Nov. 4 ballot for a $42.04 bond referendum to do needed upgrades on the Fort Dodge Senior High School building was approved by the Fort Dodge Community School District Board of Education Monday.

“We’re ahead of schedule on the process,” Superintendent Josh Porter said. “It’s a good spot to be in going into the summer.”

“There will be much more information going out as the 2025-26 school year starts toward the Nov. 4 vote,” he added.

The measure provides for upgrades in the east and west classrooms and the main pool and indoor athletic locker rooms, updating building systems and the main canopy, the creation of a public address and safety system, and upgrades to career and technical education, fine arts and the weight room and field entrance near Dodger Stadium.

In other action items, the board approved:

∫ Around $160,000 to purchase J2K IPads for the district. According to Porter, this helps in recycling through to new technology moving into 2025-26.

∫ Approved signing a contract with the local American Education Association chapter for special education funding requirements.

Starting at $2.99/week.
