Webster County K-9 officer Iza will soon be protected by a bullet and stab proof vest, thanks to a donation from a national nonprofit organization.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. donated the bullet and stab protective vest to Webster County as part of the organization’s 2024 Fallen K9 Hero Fundraiser project. The vest is embroidered with the words “in memory of the K9s who served and sacrificed in 2024.”

“The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is very fortunate to have received this donation to help protect our valuable K-9 partners,” Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener said. “Our K-9s are a vital tool in our continuing efforts to keep Webster County safe.”

Iza is a 19-month-old German shepherd/Malinois mix who is paired with Deputy Colton Monson. Iza has been trained in narcotics, tracking and suspect apprehension.

The protective vest is custom-fitted, certified by the National Institute of Justice, and is U.S. made.

Vested Interest in K9s has donated more than 6,000 vests valued at nearly $7 million to K9 officers in all 50 states through both private and corporate donations.

Each vest has a value of $1,800 and weighs an average of five pounds. Each comes with a five-year warranty.

Starting at $2.99/week.
