FD City Council OKs work on Blanden Memorial Art Museum

The Fort Dodge City Council on Monday approved some exterior work on the Blanden Memorial Art Museum building.

The work will be done on the northwest side of the building at 920 Third Ave. S. It includes removing and replacing some pavement in the parking area, removing concrete on the patio and installing steel railings.

Kolacia Construction, of Fort Dodge, was hired to do the work at a cost of $99,200.

Jensen Builders Ltd., of Fort Dodge, submitted the only other bid of $128,300.

Also on Monday, the council approved the second reading of measures updating the plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and fuel gas codes. The updated codes must be approved once more to become law.

The code updates will impact the work of people working in those trades, but the general public won’t notice any obvious differences if they are approved.

Starting at $2.99/week.
