GOWRIE — Aiden Anderson’s message to his fellow classmates was simple — take advantage of opportunities.
Anderson, Southeast Valley High School’s Class of 2025 valedictorian, thanked his fellow graduates for their willingness to take advantage of opportunities and to encourage those in grades below them to take advantage of those same opportunities.
Faculty and administrators honored 97 graduates on Sunday as their time as Jaguars came to an end, but as their class motto states “This is the end of a chapter, but the story is just beginning.”
Class President Grant Farnham talked about ending a chapter in their lives, but also opening new doors.
“This past year we have had a lot of lasts, but today we have a first when we walk across the stage to graduate,” Farnham said. “Even though we closed a 13 year journey of our life we have a lot more firsts and lasts to come.

“Go out and show the world what you can do and find your spot in the world.”
Class of 2025 Vice President Paige Holmes told The Messenger how proud she was of her classmates.
“I am proud to be part of such an amazing class. We’ve been through so much together — late nights, big wins, hard lessons, and unforgettable moments,” Holmes said. “Every challenge we faced helped shape who we are today. I’d remind my classmates that success isn’t just about awards or grades — it’s about growth, kindness, and showing up for each other. We’ve already proven that we’re strong and capable, and I truly believe we’re ready for whatever comes next.
“As we move forward, I hope we carry the lessons, memories, and friendships from these halls with us. We’ve made our mark — and the best is still ahead.”
In his time as a Jaguar, Farnham will remember all of the mentors and activities that high school brought.

“What I will remember the most about my four years as a Jaguar is the support I have received from the staff in the district,” Farnham said. “They have helped me in the classroom and in extracurricular activities.
“I thank them for all they have done for this class over the past four years.”
Anderson talked about his classmates’ different interests and his time as a Jaguar.
“What is special about this class is how diverse of an array of interests its students have,” Anderson said. “Ranging from athletics to the arts, and immense dedication in the realm of CTSOs. Everyone has something they care about.
“There are many things I will remember about my four years as a Jaguar. For me personally, it will be the care that many of our educators put into my own, and our class at large , educational journey.”

The Class of 2025 has built friendships that will carry into their adult years.
“I would say what is special about this class is that we are all friends,” Holmes said. “No matter who you are, where you come from, what you are interested in, we treat each other as equals.
“But most importantly, this class is truly special because of our unity, resilience, and spirit. We’ve overcome challenges together and created a supportive community where everyone feels seen and valued. Our class is full of leaders, dreamers, and go-getters.”
For those coming after them Anderson’s message was to do things not because they have to be done, but because they are there to do.
Farnham talked about his classmates finding their niche.

“What is special about this class is that each student has found something they are passionate about,” Farnham said. “They work hard to succeed in it. If it’s in the arts, athletics, CTE’s or in the classroom.”
As the final doors close on her time as a Jaguar, Holmes will remember her classmates, her teachers and everyone that helped in the process.
“I feel as a Jaguar, one thing I will remember most is the people,” Holmes said. “Every teacher that I have interacted with, has made a change in my life. Every peer who I have interacted with, has made a change in my life. Without these many different influences, I would not be who I am today.
“Not only will I remember the teachers, but my peers as well. I’ll remember the friendships, the school spirit, the late-night study sessions, and the countless memories we made during events, sports, and performances. Most of all, I’ll remember how we grew — individually and together.”
For future Jaguars, Holmes wants those students to take their time and enjoy their high school years.

“Make the most of every moment — you won’t realize how fast it goes until it’s over,” Holmes said. “Get involved, be kind, and most importantly, be respectful. Say hi to everyone, even if it’s just a smile or a quick hello.
“You never know how much that can mean to someone. Treat others the way you want to be treated, and take pride in being part of something bigger than yourself. You have so much potential — believe in it, and enjoy the journey.”
