A Dairy Queen restaurant is being built in the Corridor Plaza along First Avenue South.

A new source of ice cream treats is coming to Fort Dodge.

A fresh round of earthmoving is under way in Corridor Plaza where a Dairy Queen is being built. The new restaurant will be along First Avenue South across 27th Street from where an AutoZone store is rapidly taking shape.

BJ Stokesbary, a spokesman for Crossroads Plaza Development, which owns the site, confirmed that work on the Dairy Queen has begun.

Representatives of Fourteen Foods, the Franklin, Tennessee, company that will own the Dairy Queen franchise, did not respond to requests for comment. That company already owns several Dairy Queen restaurants in Iowa, including the ones in Humboldt and Boone.

Dairy Queen, based in Bloomington, Minnesota, has about 7,700 restaurants in about 20 countries.

Construction of the restaurant is one of three projects underway in Corridor Plaza.

Construction of the AutoZone store began in March after the company announced in December 2024 that it was entering the Fort Dodge market.

The company describes itself as the leading retailer of auto parts.

It has not released any details on its Fort Dodge store. AutoZone stores measure between 6.500 and 8,000 square feet, according to the company’s website.

On the western edge of Corridor Plaza, the sports facility called The Pavilion is nearing completion. It will include a five court basketball/volleyball arena, three pickleball courts, a restaurant and three retail spaces. It will be the site of basketball, volleyball, wrestling, pickleball, craft shows, corporate events, concerts and adult combat sports.

Corridor Plaza is already home to Dunham’s Sports, Shoe Sensation, Maurice’s, Chick-fil-A, Teriyaki Madness, Clean Laundry, T-Mobile, Tidal Wave Auto Spa, and UnityPoint Clinic Express.

An ULTA cosmetics store will open next week.

Starting at $2.99/week.
