The Webster County Historical Society will hold a box social from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Fort Dodge Public Library.

Attendees will learn about the history of the box social and how it was the event to go to back in the late 1900s all the way into 1970.

In the 1940s, it was the social event for many in Harcourt, known for its fancy box social events.

The history of the box social will be discussed, and the public can vote on the boxes created by attendees. Each shoebox is to represent their favorite Webster County community. The winning box will receive a trophy that can be displayed until next year’s box social.

Vintage photos of members of the Webster County community and valentines will also be on display.

Attendees can bring their decorated box, treats to share as well as their own non-alcoholic beverages.
