Florida man arrested on felony weapons charges

Hamilton County deputy seizes weapons, drugs

WEBSTER CITY — A Florida man was arrested in Hamilton County and charged with multiple felony weapons and drug charges, the county’s Sheriff’s Office reported.

Jonah Woods Mirino, 26, of Deland, Florida, was pulled over on Interstate 35 Saturday by Hamilton County Deputy Ethan Krieger for speeding and dark window tint. Upon investigation, Krieger discovered that Mirino was a convicted felon and was also in possession of marijuana, a marijuana grinder, and multiple firearms.

Krieger seized a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun in a backpack in the back seat of the vehicle, as well as two rifles inside a black case in the rear passenger seat. A THC vape in his pocket was also seized.

Mirino is charged with three counts of a felon in possession of firearms as well as possession of a controlled substance, second offense, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Mirino posted a $1,000 bond and must appear in Hamilton County Court on Feb. 18.
