Housing study shows demand in Fort Dodge

A newly released study shows a healthy demand for new homes in Fort Dodge in the next five years.

Astra Ferris, chief executive officer of the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance, presented a summary of the study’s results to the City Council on Monday.

It shows a need for 226 new homes in the city by 2029, she said.

Of that total, 149 of the homes would be for sale and 77 would be for rent.

Ferris said that projected need is tied to a 15 percent increase in average household income in Fort Dodge by 2029.

The study was prepared by Next Move Group LLC, of Pensacola, Florida.

Ferris said the study was commissioned after a developer asked if there was any such information for the community.

Ferris said the study ties in with the city’s designation as an Iowa Thriving Community. She added that it will be presented at the Developers Showcase in Des Moines next month.

Starting at $2.99/week.
