FD woman sentenced to federal prison
Johnson convicted for meth distribution
A Fort Dodge woman who conspired to distribute methamphetamine was sentenced in federal court in Sioux City on Thursday.
Amanda Johnson, also known as Amanda Adams, 35, pleaded guilty on July 31 to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
In 2020, Johnson was convicted in federal court of the same charge as well as possession with intent to distribute and aiding and abetting another in possession with intent to distribute. Johnson was on supervised release for the 2020 charge when she was arrested in December 2023.
Evidence at her sentencing hearing showed that Johnson distributed more than 1,500 grams of methamphetamine in the Fort Dodge area for six months in 2023. On Nov. 15, 2023, Johnson and another individual distributed nearly one-quarter pound of methamphetamine in a controlled drug purchase transaction in Waterloo. On Dec. 4, 2023, Johnson distributed another 2 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover agent after making an agreement to distribute one-quarter pound of methamphetamine.
Johnson was sentenced to 144 months in prison and must serve at least eight years of supervised release following her prison term. Johnson was also sentenced to an additional 24 months in prison, to be served consecutively, for revocation of her supervised release.
Johnson remains in the custody of the United States Marshals and will be transported to federal prison.
