Hagar named FDCSD school resource officer

Jordan Hagar

Fort Dodge Police Officer Jordan Hagar is back in the classrooms of the Fort Dodge Community School District once again.

Only this time instead of being a student, he’s a school resource officer.

Hagar is a graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High School and joined the Fort Dodge Police Department in July 2019. Last month, he was named the newest SRO with the district.

“I am excited about this role for many reasons,” said Hagar. “I was raised in Fort Dodge and currently live here. I was a student of Fort Dodge Community Schools. I also have four children, all of whom attend or will attend Fort Dodge Schools. This role will allow me to take a different role within the community and my job with the Fort Dodge Police Department.”

“In Officer Hagar’s time with the department, he has experienced all different types of calls and situations,” added Police Chief Dennis Quinn. “This helps him to be well rounded and have the versatility to handle the various situations that he will face while working alongside school staff and students. Officer Hagar has a great personality that I believe will help him build trust and professional relationships with both students and staff.”

In his role as a school resource officer, Hagar will be present at all schools throughout the district and provide necessary law enforcement services, as well as developing positive relationships with students.

“Our school resource officers play an essential role in creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for our students and staff,” said Fort Dodge School District Superintendent Josh Porter. “Their presence helps build positive relationships between law enforcement and our school community, fostering trust and collaboration. We are especially proud to have Officer Hagar, a Fort Dodge graduate, giving back to the school community through his work. This connection exemplifies the pride and commitment our alumni have for our district. We are grateful for our partnership with the Fort Dodge Police Department and the dedication of our SROs to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in our schools.”
