Texas murder suspect arrested near Pomeroy

Coolack wanted for murder in brother's death in 2022

POMEROY — A Texas murder suspect who has been on the run for more than two years was arrested Sunday morning outside of Pomeroy.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Kyle Andrew Coolack, 39, was arrested Sunday while he was walking along Iowa Highway 4.

Officials say Coolack had been staying with a Pomeroy resident, but was kicked out of the home Sunday morning. The resident called law enforcement to report that Coolack had admitted to other members of the household that he was on the run for killing his brother, which is why the resident forced him from the home.

A Calhoun County deputy located Coolack, who provided a fake name, but after further questioning revealed his true identity.

Coolack had an outstanding murder warrant in Houston, Texas, from July 15, 2022. Coolack is accused of murdering his brother, Brad, after it was discovered that Kyle Coolack was allegedly having an affair with Brad’s wife while Brad was deployed.

Coolack is currently being held in the Carroll County Jail awaiting extradition to Houston, Texas.

Starting at $2.99/week.
