Moorland woman charged with attempted murder
Victim was shot in the abdomen during altercation
MOORLAND — A Moorland woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting last week, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The Sheriff’s Office identified her as Cheyanne Guthrie, 29.
According to deputies, on Sept. 26, Kaleb K. Meyer drove to 618 Front St. in Moorland where Meyer and Guthrie engaged in a verbal altercation. At that time, Guthrie displayed a firearm and shot through the driver’s door of Meyer’s vehicle, striking him in the abdomen.
Meyer was transported by personal vehicle to the Mason City hospital where he was treated and released.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office contacted Webster County dispatchers that day in reference to a shooting victim from Webster County who was being treated by Mason City hospital staff. Webster County detectives were then made aware of the shooting.
Webster County deputies and detectives made contact at that time with Guthrie as well as two males who were also at the residence. According to Chief Deputy Derek Christie, all three individuals were interviewed, a search warrant was executed on the residence, and cellular devices, ammunition, and a firearm were seized.
Guthrie is currently being held in the Webster County Jail on a $250,000 bond. An order of protection has also been placed against Guthrie.
