FD woman charged with arson

Police say she started July house fire

A Fort Dodge woman was arrested Thursday and charged with starting a house fire last July, police reported.

Brianna D. Anderson, 34, was arrested and charged with first degree arson, according to the Police Department.

The fire she is accused of starting was reported at 10:33 a.m. July 13 at 304 S. 15th St. Firefighters contained the blaze to the basement of the home. Everyone who was in the house escaped unharmed.

According to police, the initial investigation revealed that a woman was seen leaving the area shortly before smoke was spotted coming from the house.

The investigation continued over the following months, and it was determined that the fire was deliberately set. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Anderson.

A Fort Dodge police officer spotted Anderson near First Avenue South and 12th Street Thursday morning and arrested her.

Anderson was booked into the Webster County jail with bond set at $50,000 cash only.
