FD man arrested in shots fired incident

Mothershed faces intimidation with weapon charge

Fort Dodge police quickly apprehended a suspect in connection with a Tuesday morning gunshot incident.

Brandon R. Mothershed, 23, 1660 8 1/2 Ave. N., faces a charge of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a felony, following Tuesday’s incident, according to police reports and court records.

According to the Fort Dodge Police Department, Mothershed was spotted in a vehicle Tuesday evening in the 2900 block of First Avenue South. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and Mothershed was taken into custody without incident.

He made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Wednesday morning. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for Nov. 18.

The arrest comes after a morning shots fired call Tuesday in the 100 block of South 18th Street. No one was injured.

As a result of the incident, the Fort Dodge Community School District’s Early Childhood Center, located a block away at 104 S. 17th St., secured the perimeter, which means that no one is allowed in or out of the building until law enforcement has neutralized the potential threat. Classes inside went on as normal. The secure the perimeter precaution was eventually lifted.
