The Webster County Fairgrounds hosted the Iowa Rodeo Roughstock (IRR) Rodeo Finals this weekend, along with the Figure 8 Nationals races. According to Kerrie Kuiper, executive director of Visit Fort Dodge, the two events were expected to bring in more than $120,000 to the local Fort Dodge economy.
-Photo by Julie Vinsand Southeast Valley High School senior Levi Collier places a flower at the memorial site for Michele “Luna” Jackson at the Farnhamville City Park. Collier was classmates with Jackson and said he plans to make a plaque with Luna’s name on it in welding class to honor her. Luna, 17, was a student at Southeast Valley High School who was murdered on Sunday night in Farnhamville. Nathaniel K. Bevers-McGivney, 21, of Gowrie, was arrested Sunday and on Tuesday was charged in Calhoun County court with first-degree murder in Jackson’s death.

Homecoming pep rallies at the South Central Calhoun elementary school and middle school on Friday included the homecoming court, along with South Central Calhoun seniors in football, cross country, volleyball, and cheerleading.
