Webster Co. leaders graduate statewide education programs

7 officials honored at Des Moines conference

Seven Webster County leaders participated in and graduated from statewide continuing education programs last week.

Supervisors Mark Campbell and Niki Conrad were recertified as Certified Iowa County Supervisors. Supervisor Nick Carlson became a Certified Iowa County Supervisor.

The supervisors participated in the second class of Certified Iowa County Supervisors during a ceremony in Des Moines that was held in conjunction with the Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) annual conference.

“Continuing to strengthen my knowledge and abilities to serve Webster County best is important to me as a leader and an elected official,” said Campbell. “Maintaining my certification as a Certified Iowa County Supervisor has extended my education and access to resources from across Iowa.”

“There is a lot of shared information that we get in these classes and by participating in ISAC events,” added Carlson. “Taking this time to collaborate with other counties absolutely makes an impact in how we better serve Webster County.”

Conrad and Carlson currently serve as the Webster County Board’s chair and vice-chair, respectively. Campbell previously served as chair and currently serves as the ISAC third vice president. He has been on the ISAC Board since 2022. Carlson leads District 1 for the Iowa State Association of County Supervisors affiliate.

The Iowa County Recorder Association certification graduation was held on Friday. Courtney Balkenende is now a Certified Deputy Recorder and Lindsay Laufersweiler is recertified as a Certified County Recorder. Laufersweiler also serves on the Iowa County Recorder Association’s Electronic Services System (ESS) Coordinating Committee for District 1.

“As leaders in the property records industry, it is important we continue to stay educated, informed, and involved to best serve our constituents,” said Laufersweiler.

Additionally, Webster County Auditor Doreen Pliner was certified SEAT III (State Election Administrators Training) earlier this year, as was Krystal Lloyd, a drainage and real estate clerk in the Webster County Auditor’s office.

Starting at $4.94/week.
