Search continues in Pocahontas County
Residents asked to ‘lock doors, vehicles’
ROLFE — Pocahontas County law enforcement are asking residents to be cautious and lock their doors and vehicles after a man wanted by U.S. Marshals evaded law enforcement following a vehicle pursuit Tuesday.
According to the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, they were notified around 2 p.m. Tuesday by U.S. Marshals that Nathan Edward Nickless, who has multiple active federal arrest warrants, was possibly in Pocahontas County.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., a Pocahontas County deputy located Nickless at the Casey’s General Store in Pocahontas. According to law enforcement, Nickless failed to follow the deputy’s commands and a vehicle pursuit began. The suspect’s vehicle later became disabled on 270th Avenue near the intersection of 470th Street, which is southwest of the city of Rolfe. Nickless then fled into a corn field.
Law enforcement set up a perimeter and utilized drones, K-9s, and aircraft resources in the search and were joined by multiple law enforcement agencies. Law enforcement were unable to locate Nickless and the search was called off at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, Nickless is considered armed and dangerous. Citizens should not approach the subject. He was said to be wearing a light blue shirt, baseball cap, and shorts when he was last observed.
